Description
Olmstead Hall is a cottage dating from the 16th century, which was altered and extended in the 18th century. It features a timber frame with plaster rendering and a tiled gabled roof. There is an internal chimney stack located to the west of the ridge, along with 18th to 19th century stacks at the gable ends. The 18th century domestic addition at the rear creates an L-plan layout. The building is one storey with an attic and has three dormers. There are four hung sash windows, including two on either side of the doorway, each with twenty panes. The 19th century doorcase is topped with a narrow hood supported by scroll brackets. The rear addition has a mansard roof. Inside, the room at the south end features heavy joists in the ceiling, and on the first floor, there is a raised tie beam with shaped bracing. The cottage is situated on a moated site.
