Description
Two statues of male and female gardeners are located in the courtyard at Anglesey Abbey. These figures, made of lead and dating from around 1750, were cast from originals by John Cheere. They were previously situated at Copped Hall in Essex. The figures are also referred to as a Shepherd and Shepherdess in the Royal Commission on Historical Monuments publication for North East Cambridgeshire and in Lanning-Roper's "Gardens of Anglesey Abbey" from 1964.
