Description

Sidney Sussex College's Cloister Court, built in 1891 by J.L. Pearson, is designed in the Jacobean style. The structure is made of red brick with stone dressings and features impressive staircase detailing. The stone cloister has depressed classical arches supported by four squat Italian Doric columns. The building stands three storeys high with an attic, and the upper floors are adorned with pairs of two-storey bows that are separated by Flemish gables. There are plat bands at each level, and while the parapet is visible, the roof itself is not. The cloister continues onto the north range of Hall Court.
