Description
The Railway Footbridge at Woodcroft Crossing, built around 1860, is a Grade II listed structure. It was constructed by the Great Northern Railway as a result of the Further Powers Act of 1858/59, which allowed for the expansion of the railway line from Werrington Junction to Helpston. This footbridge features a cast iron design, with castings produced by Dallam Forge of Warrington. The bridge has a Z-shaped plan and is supported by clusters of four octagonal cast iron columns, which are adorned with shaped and pierced brackets. The footbridge includes an iron lattice balustrade with square newels topped with ball finials. It is located on the Syston to Peterborough line of the London and North Eastern Railway and the LMSR.
