Description
The building at 299 and 301 Castle Hill Road, Totternhoe, dates from the 18th century and was originally a single house, now divided into two cottages. It is constructed of dark red brick with light red window dressings and quoins. The house is two storeys high with a hipped roof covered in old clay tiles and a moulded wooden eaves cornice. Window openings were altered in the 19th century, resulting in four window openings where five originally existed, the two central windows being narrower and closely spaced. The ground floor windows are sash windows with glazing bars, each protected by a cambered relieving arch. Projecting chimney breasts are visible on the side elevations.
