Description

Pirton Court is an early 17th-century timber-frame house with plaster infill, built on stone foundations. The house has an irregular plan and extends to two storeys and attics. A projecting north wing features a tiered, moulded wood mullioned and transomed bay window, with an oversailing gable-head. Decorative studding is located between the lower and upper windows of this wing. The general timber framing consists of quadrant studding. A recessed, gabled wing to the right stands on brick foundations and features a moulded wood mullioned seven-light window. A gabled timber-frame and plaster porch fronts this wing. A massive stone stack with clustered moulded brick shafts is situated in the angle between the wings. The interior contains original plasterwork, panelling and fireplaces, and has been restored. Pirton Court is part of a group that also includes its barns.
