Description
These are two cottages located on Church Street, Bulkington, dating from the 16th and 17th centuries, with additions and alterations made in the 19th century. The cottages are timber-framed with rendered infill, standing on a brick plinth. The left return side of number 4 has been rebuilt in whitewashed brick. A rear wing, which forms number 3, is mainly of rendered brick and features a dentil cornice. The roof is covered in plain tiles and there is a rendered ridge stack on the left side. The arrangement is L-shaped, with a wing set at an angle to the rear. The cottages are two storeys high and have a two-window front. A 20th-century part-glazed door provides access. There are four ground-floor windows, along with 2- and 3-light 19th-century casement windows. A rear entrance serves number 3. The rear wing incorporates 19th and 20th-century casement windows and a half-dormer. Inside number 4, there is an open fireplace. Number 3 features a chamfered beam.
