Description
The Church of St Editha is a parish church with origins dating back to the late 12th century. The nave and nave arcade were constructed in the 13th century, while the aisle was added in the 14th century. The chancel, chapel, and vestry were built in the 15th century. The church features a modern porch and organ chamber, and notably lacks a chancel arch. It underwent restoration in 1886 by C Lynam. A prominent feature of the church is the very large East window. Inside, the chapel showcases a panelled cambered beam roof and includes good early 19th-century mural monuments dedicated to Maria Wright Crockett. There is also an extensive display of stained glass by Kempe.
