Description
Bumblehole Bridge, also known as Bridge No. 46, is a canal bridge and lock built around 1770, with some minor repairs from the 19th century. It is constructed of red brick in English bond. The bridge features a single segmental arch with stone quoins and a dripstone. The stone-coped parapet slopes significantly from right to left. The lock is located at the rear of the bridge. Together with the associated cottage, they create a picturesque group. The Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal, which includes this bridge, was opened through Wombourne parish in 1770, designed by the engineer James Brindley.
