Description
This milestone, located approximately 160 metres southeast of the Four Crosses Public House, was erected between 1826 and 1827 and is attributed to the engineer Thomas Telford. It is made of tooled limestone, featuring a shallow-pointed top and chamfered corners. A cast-iron plate is attached, displaying superscribed serif lettering that reads: "HOLY-/HEAD/ 104-M/ SALOP/2M-6F". This milestone is part of a series along the A5 (Holyhead Road), which Telford improved during the 15 years following 1817. The Four Crosses Public House itself is not included in this listing.
