Description
The walls to the west of Number 6 (The Bell Inn) date from the late 18th century to early 19th century and include reset stonework from the mid 12th century. The squared and coursed sandstone walls extend approximately 10 meters along the north side and 15 meters along the west side. The walls that complete the circuit to the south and east are much lower and have been rebuilt. The east wall features a reset mid 12th century carved stone, which is similar in style to those found in The Bell Inn. This stone depicts a pair of figures, each with their arms raised across their chest and hands turned out in a prayerful gesture, set within an arcade that has simple flat capitals on the pillars.
