Description

This is a 17th-century house, later used as an inn. It was remodelled in the mid- to late 19th century. The exterior is stucco lined to resemble ashlar, set on coursed limestone rubble, with a slate roof. The building has a T-shaped plan and a lobby-entry design. It includes a basement and two storeys. Decorative barge and fascia boards adorn the gables above the outer windows, and there's a large central stone ridge stack. The front has three windows; the ground floor features tripartite plate glass sashes, while the first floor has a central plain sash. A central boarded double door leads to a mid- to late 19th-century porch supported by octagonal columns, topped with a frieze and cornice. A tripartite sash window appears on each floor of the left-hand front. Inside, two 17th-century fireplaces remain, notable for their chamfered spine beams with run-out stops over the lintels, along with a 17th-century staircase. A late 19th-century cast iron railed enclosure is located at the front.
