Description
The Church of St James, located in Tedstone Delamere, dates back to the 11th century. The eastern part of the nave may be pre-Conquest, primarily indicated by the north doorway. The church consists of a nave, chancel, north vestry, south porch, and a timber bell-turret topped with a spire. The 11th-century nave features windows from the 12th and 14th centuries. The chancel was built between 1856 and 1857 by Sir George Gilbert Scott, and it includes an east window created by Hardman. There is a font from the 12th or 13th century and a late 15th-century screen separating the chancel from the nave. Additionally, there is a wrought iron hour-glass stand and bracket from the 17th or 18th century located in the porch.
