Description
The Cider House, located immediately north of Moseley Bank, dates from the late 17th century or 18th century. It features a timber frame construction with plastered panels and some weatherboarding. The roof is made of corrugated iron sheets and has gabled ends. The building has a small rectangular plan with two bays; the southwest bay is open to the roof, while the northeast bay contains a loft. There are later outshuts on the southeast side and southwest ends.
On the exterior, the northeast gable end displays exposed timber framing, with weatherboarding below and casement windows. The roof on the southeast side extends over the outshut. The southwest gable end is also weatherboarded, with exposed timber framing below, an old plank door, and an outshut.
Inside, the box-frame structure features heavy studs and exposed wattle panels. The loft floor is supported by rough cross-beams and joists, with a partition in the central truss that includes queen posts, and the principals meet at the apex. The side purlins are set on the backs of the principals, and the common rafters and ridgepiece are intact. The cider mill and cider press located under the loft are also preserved.
