Description

Austendike Hall is a house dating from the mid-18th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. It is constructed of red brick, with some rendered areas and ashlar dressings. The roof is slate, featuring broken dentillated eaves, tumbled gables, a single ridge, and two gable stacks. The house is two storeys with an attic, and has a four-bay front. Ashlar quoins are present. The main doorway has a panelled door and reveal, and is flanked by single projecting bay windows with raking roofs; each bay window contains two glazing bar sashes. A single glazing bar sash with a segmental head is located to the left of the doorway. Above the doorway is a single semi-circular headed glazing bar sash with an ornate glazing bar head, flanked by Venetian windows, and a single glazing bar sash with a segmental head towards the left side. Four 19th-century slate-hung dormers, each with a segmental head and a single glazing bar casement, are visible in the attic. The original dormers would have broken through the dentillated eaves.
