Description

This is an early 19th-century house, originally named The Wilderness, and now subdivided into two properties, No. 50 (White Gables and The Wilderness). It is constructed of coursed rubble stone with quoins, and has stone dressings and a Collyweston slate roof with a moulded stone ridge and wing end stacks. Stone coped gables are present.

The house has an "H" shaped plan, with projecting cross wings. The front has two storeys and five three-light stone mullion windows on each floor, the ground floor windows being hooded. A central doorway features a Tudor arch, leading to a two-leaved, part-glazed door with an overlight, raised up three semi-circular steps. On the left end are similar three-light windows, alongside a French window. The right end also has similar windows. A two-storey extension is visible at the rear, incorporating a door to White Gables.
