Description

The Grange is a house, originally dating from the 17th century, with alterations and extensions made in the 19th century to create a double-pile dwelling. It is constructed of coursed squared stone with ashlar dressings, and has a Collyweston stone slate roof and stone end stacks. The north front is two-and-a-half storeys tall with a three-window range. An entrance, set slightly off-centre and featuring a 19th-century moulded architrave, is flanked by a single-light casement window above it. Other windows are of three lights with stone ovolo-moulded mullions, casements, and leaded panes, each with a cornice above. Three 19th-century dormers are present, and may incorporate reused windows from the south side of the original building. A 19th-century range extends to the south, two storeys high with a two-window range, including a round-headed staircase window to the west and a round-headed entrance within a projection to the east. A single-storey addition to the north-west features a lateral stack. Stone enclosing walls create a courtyard to the north.
