Description
62 George Street is an early to mid-19th century house that stands three storeys tall with a basement and features four large windows. The building is constructed from red brick and has stone dressings, including a plinth with a broad band, alternating block quoins, cills, and voussoir-cut lintels above the upper windows. It also has friezes and modillion cornices above the lower windows. The windows are sash style, complete with glazing bars and margin lights. The roof is low-pitched and slated, with end and off-centre stacks. Access to the house is via a double flight of steps, which has a wrought iron handrail supported by twist balusters, leading to a four-panel door that features an oblong fanlight set within a Roman Doric doorcase topped with a modillion cornice. This building was formerly a public house.
