Description
38 Hyde Terrace is a vicarage, built in 1857 for the Vicar of Holy Trinity Church. It is now converted into flats. The building is constructed of red brick in stretcher bond, with stone detailing, and has a slate roof featuring both fish-scale and plain slates. It is two storeys high with attics, and has three bays, with the left bay gabled and projecting slightly. The central entrance has a four-panel door, the top two panels glazed, set within a columned recess beneath a hoodmould and crenellated porch. To the left are three round-arched windows on each floor, grouped under a linked hoodmould, recessed and with slender attached columns; two similar windows are above the central door. A traceried two-light round-headed window is on the right. The interior staircase consists of two straight flights with a cast-iron balustrade, a ramped handrail, and carved terminals. The landing features attached moulded columns and arches, and a moulded ceiling cornice.
