Description

Southfield House is a house dating from 1867 to 1870, built for Samuel Reffitt, a dyer. It is constructed of red brick with stone architraves and details, topped with a slate roof. The house is two and three storeys high, with three bays. A central round-arched entrance is set within a moulded architrave. Above the entrance is a turret with a pyramid roof and finial, featuring round-arched windows. Plate-glass sash windows are present throughout. Segmental arches top the other windows. To the right of the entrance is a three-light canted bay window, with paired windows above and a single window in a scrolled gable storey. To the left of the entrance are paired windows on the ground and first floors, accompanied by a carved stone roundel in a narrower scrolled gable. Carved stone cornices are found on the left and centre of the building, and there are end stacks. The interior was not inspected.
