Description
The Lodge is a lodge dating to circa 1867, built for TS Kennedy. It is constructed of roughly coursed gritstone rubble with a slate roof featuring ornamental bands of fishscale slates. The building is two storeys high and has a two-by-three bay layout. It is designed in a Gothic Revival style.
A corner entrance tower is situated on the left side, with a flat roof. It contains a board door with an overlight within a shallow pointed arch. A wide gable displays a bay window on the ground floor, with a segmental-arched window above. The windows are plate-glass sashes. The bargeboards have cusped piercings, the ridge has cresting, and the end finials are wrought iron with pennants pierced with the letter âKâ. A tall moulded ridge stack is also present. To the left return, a central, narrower, and lower gable features a three-light mullion window.
The interior has not been inspected.
The Lodge was originally built as a gatehouse to Meanwood Towers, located on Towers Way.
