Description

Manor Farmhouse is a house dating from around 1700, with a later addition to the rear. It is constructed of coursed squared sandstone, with quoins, and has a stone slate roof. Originally designed with a double-depth, four-room plan, it features a two-unit central lobby-entry front range and coupled rear wings arranged within a square layout. The house is two storeys high and almost symmetrical in appearance. The doorway has a chamfered surround and an ogee-shaped lintel, slightly offset to the left of the centre. Above the doorway, at first floor level, is a single-light window with a segmental head and hollow spandrels. Otherwise, there are two windows on each floor, each containing two square lights with chamfered mullions. A ridge chimney is positioned in line with the door, and the gables have stone copings with kneelers. The rear of the house has two gabled wings, with quoins to the wing on the left (which backs onto the second unit). These gables also have copings with kneelers and gable chimneys. A ground floor window on the right-hand side has "DAIRY" lettered on its sill.

Inside, the right-hand front room features stop-chamfered spine beams, while the left front room has a moulded plaster cornice and similarly decorated beams. There are also various fielded panel doors throughout.

Historical records indicate initials on a dated lintel of a nearby barn (listed separately) identify William Myers and Alice Holmes, who were married in 1700.
