Description
Low House is a large house dating from the mid to late 18th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. The house is constructed of coursed rubble with quoins, and has a stone slate roof with gable copings on cut kneelers. Two ashlar stacks are present. The house is two storeys high, with a basement to the lower end due to the sloping ground.
The garden front features large, square, two-storey bays added in the 19th century at each end. It has two bays of sash windows, one of which has been replaced by a 19th-century doorway with a cornice supported on console brackets. A blocked, partially obscured moulded doorway is visible to the left. An entrance from the road, at first-floor level, has a chamfered, quoined surround within a 19th-century stone slab porch. A four-light basement window is situated to the right, and a blocked doorway with a chamfered surround to the left.
The east gable features a basement six-light window with leaded glazing on the right, and a three-light double chamfered window to the two upper floors with leaded diamond glazing. A later round-arched window is located in the attic. A large single light is present on the upper floors to the left, one of which is blocked.
