Description
This urn, made in 1794 by Coade of Lambeth, is located approximately 40 metres west of The Old Rectory in Patrington. It is crafted from Coade stone and sits on a limestone pedestal. The pedestal is square, featuring a moulded plinth and cornice, a raised oval panel, and a festoon on the east side, with a stepped cap that supports the urn. The urn itself has a base inscribed with "COADE LAMBETH 1794," a frieze adorned with roundels depicting bears' heads biting swags, a fluted neck, and a domed lid. The overall height of the urn is approximately 2 metres. It is similar to another urn listed as No 813 in the Coade Catalogue. This urn was moved to its current location in the paddock west of The Old Rectory from Welton House in Humberside by Colonel R A Alec-Smith in 1959.
