Description
Patrington Mill is a windmill tower built in the late 18th century to early 19th century. It is constructed of tarred red brick and features a tapered round tower that rises five storeys high. The ground floor has segmental-headed entrances on the north and south sides, each with board doors, and there is a blocked door on the first floor. Segmental-headed windows, some of which are blocked, are present on each floor and have ashlar sills. The mill retains its cast-iron kerb, main beams, and original floors, although the stones and machinery have been removed. A plaque on the first floor is inscribed with "OPPERS. T. ROWNTREE. P. MILLERS. JE. 27. 1840". The mill was formerly known as East Mill and ceased operating as a windmill around 1940, although it was still used for small-scale machine grinding at the time of the last survey.
