Description
The promenade shelter, located opposite the west end of the boating pool in Lytham St Annes, was likely built between 1890 and 1914. It is constructed from cast iron, wood, and glass, featuring a felted roof. The shelter has a rectangular plan with benches arranged back-to-back along the long axis and at both ends, separated by wooden and glazed screens. The structure is supported by sets of cast-iron columns, with five columns at each end, which frame the partitions. The roof is wide, hipped, and has a strong sweep, adorned with ornamental cresting along the eaves and ridge, as well as corner finials. This shelter is one of a pair located approximately 50 meters apart.
