Description
The lychgate and boundary wall to the churchyard of the Church of St Anne were likely built between 1873 and 1875. The boundary wall is made of red brick with pebble panels, enclosing a triangular churchyard. It stands approximately one metre high and features a chamfered brick plinth, wide sunk panels filled with pebbles, and a coping made of three courses of chamfered brick.
The lychgate is an open timber-framed structure with a red tiled roof and a rectangular plan, designed in the Tudor style. It has a lateral stone plinth on each side, with timber sills supported by large convex braces connecting to the main posts. Concave braces rise to the eaves plates of a wide hipped roof, which includes gablets and cresting tiles. Under the roof, there are Tudor arched lintels with foliated carving in the spandrels, and a pair of wooden gates featuring quatrefoils in the top panels.
