Description

A row of five houses dating from the 1760s, built of rendered brick with a graduated slate roof. Each house has two bays and two storeys. Each has a centrally placed door, which are 20th-century replacements, and three houses have later gabled porches. Windows are 3-light, multi-pane leaded casements set beneath segmental arches. The original leaded lights have been removed from No. 13, and the windows were completely replaced with 20th-century casements in Nos. 11 and 15. Six rendered chimney stacks run along the ridge. Various small additions have been made to the rear. The front gardens are enclosed by hammer-dressed stone walls with round-topped copings that adjoin the houses. The houses were reportedly built by the 3rd Duke of Bridgewater for his canal operatives and workers.
