Description
Mount Pleasant is a terrace of eight houses, built around 1850. One of the houses has been converted into flats. The building is constructed of brick with stone dressings and has Welsh slate roofs. It is two storeys high with a basement, and features a 14-window facade with recessed outer bays. The houses have a regular design, with paired doorways to six of them, and single doorways to the outer two. They follow a deep-plan layout with a single room per floor. Each doorway is round-arched, with a four-panelled door and a glazed round-arched upper panel, supported by console brackets. Ground-floor windows are canted bays with casement windows, divided by pilasters carrying a moulded cornice. The first-floor windows are four-pane sash windows with flat-arched, gauged brick heads. The building has axial stacks and yellow brick quoins, as well as a stone plinth and yellow brick angle quoins. Mount Pleasant is a remarkably well-preserved example of housing from this period.
