Description

Ashington Farmhouse is an 18th-century house, likely built on the site of an earlier structure. It is constructed of roughly-squared stone with cut dressings, topped with a Welsh slate roof and rebuilt brick stacks. The farmhouse is two storeys high and originally had three bays, though it now appears slightly irregular. A half-glazed door sits in the centre of the front, with an overlight and an irregular-block surround; a carved coat of arms is set into a panel above the door. Six-pane sash windows with patterned leading to side lights are present on the front elevation. Coped gables top the building, with end stacks marking the corners.

The right return side reveals a rear outshut featuring older masonry, and a rear wing with matching sash windows, along with two stepped and corniced ridge stacks. A continuation of the rear wing beyond the second stack, and single-story extensions to the east of the wing, have been altered and are not considered to be of architectural significance.
